The Ortho Generation dialog now includes two new options that help reduce generation time by skipping unnecessary views:
Skip Views That Are Already Up to Date – The software ignores ortho views that haven’t changed since the last generation. If only one view was modified (e.g. a new component was added or the camera angle changed), only that view is regenerated, while the rest remain untouched.
Skip Views That Have Missing Models – This option skips views that reference missing or relocated external models. For example, if a linked model was moved or deleted, only that view is skipped, while others are processed without interruption.
These options significantly streamline 2D documentation workflows. Designers no longer need to manually manage which views need updating or remove broken references—Plant 3D optimizes the process for you.
In 2D documentation, it’s often essential to indicate nozzle orientation—whether a nozzle points north, upward, sideways, etc. AutoCAD Plant 3D 2026 introduces control over how this direction is shown in ortho drawings.
A new system variable, PLANTORTHONOZZLEDIRECTION, lets users define nozzle orientation in the drawing’s nozzle table:
Relative to the equipment’s connection port axis, or
Relative to the nozzle’s own axis.
This setting allows you to follow internal standards or client-specific conventions. For example, the note “Nozzle N1 – Direction: East” can now refer either to the equipment’s mounting direction or the nozzle geometry—depending on your selection.
This flexibility reduces the need for manual editing in complex assemblies and ensures accurate, automatic orientation data.
Creating orthographic 2D documentation in AutoCAD Plant 3D 2026 is now:
More efficient – thanks to options for skipping unchanged or broken views.
More flexible – with customizable nozzle direction display in ortho drawings.
These improvements lead to faster, error-free documentation, letting your team focus on critical design tasks.
